Independent career research
About MilCareer Xplorer
A place to compare military career paths before you commit to one. Start with the work, examine the evidence, and take better questions to a recruiter.
Research first. Decisions with context.
MilCareer Xplorer brings publicly documented occupations, career comparisons, ASVAB practice, and compensation context into one research tool for prospective recruits. Career pages are starting points for understanding duties, training, service demands, and possible civilian connections—not promises of a job, qualification, salary, or contract.
Evidence should be visible
The catalog draws on official branch career and classification publications. Compensation references include Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) tables. Where record-specific evidence is available, source links, notes, and dates help explain what was checked. A source supporting an occupation code does not verify every statement on its page.
The site does not identify a named expert reviewer for every occupation. Do not interpret a status label, source citation, or review date as independent professional certification. Our methodology explains these distinctions and the limits of the review process.
Use this as a question builder
- Compare the work and entry pathway, not just the occupation title.
- Follow the cited official source and check whether its scope matches your situation.
- Ask a recruiter about current eligibility, training, openings, incentives, and written contract terms.
