Computer Systems Engineers own the software, networks and ground systems that let everything else in the Space Force function. Your work runs from architecture and requirements through integration testing, cybersecurity engineering and the unglamorous business of keeping aging systems supportable. Days include design reviews, contractor technical exchanges, defect triage with operators, and writing the engineering assessment behind a fielding decision. You lead people as well, which means balancing technical depth against the schedule pressure your program is under. Assignments are typically at program offices, software organizations and operations units in the United States rather than overseas.
You enter with a computing or engineering degree and a commission from the Academy, ROTC or Officer Training School. The job develops systems architecture, software engineering practice, data and networking fundamentals, and the testing regime that proves a build is ready.
